Discriminatory Florida Bills Target Real Estate Purchases from Immigrant Communities

A series of new laws have been introduced in states throughout the country and at the federal level which aim to restrict the ability to purchase property on the basis of national origin. Bills in Florida – HB 1355 and SB 264 – are moving quickly and risk further eroding the rights of immigrant communities in the state. At the time of writing, HB 1355 had been reported favorably by the appropriations committee while SB 264 passed the Senate on a unanimous vote.

Memo: Committee Version of Texas Senate Bill 147

The new version of SB 147 that was passed out of committee in the Texas State Senate includes a few changes. As amended, it continues to invite discrimination against many different communities by continuing to target on the basis of national heritage. Read more for more details and analysis.

قانون پیشنهادی (در ایالت تگزاس) درباره ممنوعیت مالکیت زمین تعرض به حقوق شهروندان ایرانی نسب است.
واشنگتن- فرماندار تگزاس٬ گِرِگ ابوت درصدد است که قانون TX SB147 را که شهروندان ایرانی را به همراه شهروندان چین٬ روسیه و کُره از داشتن ملک در ایالت تگزاس منع می کند امضا کند. مقامات محلی و ایالتی این قانون را مغایر با قانون اساسی خوانده و آن را محکوم کرده و بر لغو آن تاکید دارند.

Proposed legislation attacks Iranian citizens by banning them from owning real estate. Gov. Greg Abbott has promised to sign a bill (TX SB147) that would ban Iranians — along with citizens of China, North Korea and Russia — from owning property in Texas. Local and state officials have denounced the unconstitutional legislation and are urging its defeat.
