Netanyahu’s UN Tirade Signals Push for War With Iran

Washington D.C. Jamal Abdi, President of the National Iranian American Council, issued the following statement reacting to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly in New York:

“Long after the words of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech are forgotten, the image of world diplomats walking out ahead of his vitriol will remain. Likewise, the image of U.S. and Israeli diplomats applauding in the otherwise largely vacant UN chamber will highlight the U.S. government’s scorning of Americans and international law to fuel the Israeli government’s blood-soaked military adventures.

“Netanyahu used his time at the UN podium to vow that Israel is not done and  that, after illegally attacking Iran, committing war crimes against Iranian political prisoners, and deliberately targeting Iranian civilians in June, Israel will use Iran’s nuclear program as pretext to attack Iran again. Make no mistake – Bibi’s plans for a long war with Iran are not over, and they involve pulling the U.S. into a costly and protracted regime change adventure. To avoid being sucked into a full-blown war with Iran, President Trump must stand up to  Netanyahu and engage in successful diplomacy with Iran before it’s too late.”
