Washington D.C. – NIAC President Jamal Abdi released the following statement on the day of nationwide “No Kings” protests around the country amid Trump’s illegal war on Iran:
“Today, millions of Americans once again unite for a vision of a future free of tyranny. Iranian Americans around the country joined and helped lead these protests to unequivocally say: President Trump, end this war.
“Mass movement against war has been critical throughout history to bring American wars to an end, from Vietnam to Afghanistan. In the history of this tradition today, as Trump wages a senseless war of choice on our country of heritage, we raise our voices as Iranian Americans nationwide with one message: No Kings, No Bombs, No War on Iran.”
Today’s No Kings protests represented the nation’s largest mass-mobilization effort since the war broke out nearly 4 weeks ago, and the biggest chance yet to reflect through mass movement the historic unpopularity of Trump’s war. NIAC Action volunteers and members of the Iranian-American community rallied in cities throughout Massachusetts, New York, Washington D.C., California, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas and shared their personal experiences about why this war must end.

NIAC Action has led the push to pass War Powers resolutions in the House and Senate, most recently raising the alarm about a potential ground invasion this weekend and urging Congress to assert its authority.
NIAC Action continues to call on Congress to pass War Powers resolutions prohibiting war on Iran and to oppose Trump’s forthcoming estimated $200 billion supplemental spending request for the war.
