NIAC Action New York travels to Washington DC to demand a Ceasefire Now and No War with Iran

NIAC Action’s New York Chapter sponsored and led a team of 23 volunteers from New York City down to D.C. to meet with leading lawmakers from New York – including staff for the Senate majority and House minority leaders – to call for a ceasefire, halting an escalation to war with Iran, surging humanitarian aid and halting all offensive weapons transfers to Israel.

The case, Nia v. Bank of America, could have a significant impact on efforts to safeguard civil rights and equitable financial access for Iranian Americans. NIAC, which has consulted the plaintiff’s legal team and worked to combat the issue of banks closing the accounts of Iranian Americans.

Ceasefire and Regional Escalation on the Hill: A Legislative Outlook

Where do the various legislative initiatives stand at this critical juncture? Congress has returned to work amid continued conflict and turmoil in the Middle East. While some voices in Washington continue to push for outrageous escalation, including calling for bombing Iran, those with level heads are working to end the horrific war between Israel and Palestine and prevent conflict from boiling over into full-blown regional war.
Discriminatory Florida Law Bars University Offers to Iranian Nationals

Apart from the bureaucratic complexities that professors in Florida now face, it is the students who remain in the most uncertainty as life-changing opportunities are being stripped away from them. This law is one of many broad-based discriminatory measures strategically guised as maintaining national security that have begun cropping up at the state level.
